City & Guilds 2407-01 Electrical Testing & Verification
This practical course develops the knowledge and skills required to inspect, test and verify electrical installations.Learners gain hands on experience using electrical test equipment and interpreting test results in accordance with current irish requirements, including IS 10101.
Course Content
Inspection and testing procedures, continuity of protective conductors, insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance, RCD trip times and verification of electrical installations.
Practical Training
Hands on testing using professional electrical test equipment, with practical exercises designed to build confidence and competence.
Certification & Documentation
Understanding test results, completing schedules and certificates, and applying safe and correct testing procedures.
EV Charging
Practical training covering the installation, inspection, testing and verification of electric vehicle charging installations.The course focuses on safe working practices, testing procedures and practical fault finding.
Course Content
Installation requirements, protective devices, earthing arrangements, RCD protection, inspection, testing and verification of EV charging installations.
Practical Training
Hands-on testing and verification using EV charging equipment and electrical test instruments, with practical exercises based on real installation scenarios.

Solar PV Testing & Verification
Practical training covering the inspection, testing and verification of solar PV installations. Learners develop practical skills in safe testing procedures, interpreting results and identifying potential installation faults.
Course Content
Inspection and testing of solar PV systems,including DC-side testing, polarity, continuity, insulation resistance, open circuit voltage and verification of the installation.
Practical Training
Hands-on testing using appropriate solar PV test equipment, with practical exercises designed around realistic installation scenarios.
Verification and fault finding
Interpreting test results, identifying common installation faults and completing appropriate verification and documentation.
Industrial Electrical & Motor Control
Practical Hands on training covering industrial motor control systems and electrical control circuits. Learners develop fault finding skills and gain experience with contactors, overload protection, control circuits, motor starters and soft starters.
Motor Control Systems
Contactors, overloads, motor starters, control circuits, three phase power, three phase motor circuits, VSDs, PLCs, VFDs.
Soft Starters & Industrial Applications
Introduction to soft starters, bypass contactors, motor protection and practical applications in industrial electrical systems.
